GUEST LECTURE ON ‘EUROPEAN INTEGRATION AND INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS’ BY PROF. JAN LANSER, ARNHEM BUSINESS SCHOOL, HAN UNIVERSITY, NETHERLANDS

The Department of International Studies and History, Christ (Deemed to be University), organized a guest lecture on ‘European Integration and International Economics’, on 27 th August, 2019. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Jan Lanser, a senior professor of International economics, at the Arnhem Business School, Han University. Students as well as staff from the Department of International Studies, were present for the event. The speaker commenced his lecture by acquainting the audience with certain key aspects of his very own country, Netherlands. He alluded to certain key elements that are peculiar to Netherlands. In the process of doing this, he talked about the Dutch language, culture, economy; and their position in the world - economically and geographically. AGOREU-Student Seminar of International Students

AGOREU Rendezvous is a Forum of Foreign Students of the Department of International Studies and History, committed to provid assistance to International students in order to develop an understanding on academic, cultural and fraternity building of foreign students representing varied multicultural background from various countries across the world. The forum aims at facilitating exchange of ideas and information of students across the globe with respect to their country and enhancing knowledge through mutual sharing. Under this forum, the department conducted Agoreu. It is an academic fest whose objectives are to allow the international students to have an exposure by presenting various topics related to their areas of interests and it seeks to actively involve them in academic researches and make them feel fully a part of different academic fests organized by the Department. Guest Lecture on ‘Trump Disruption and India’s Foreign Policy’ by Dr. C Rajamohan

The Department of International Studies and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), organised a Guest Lecture on ‘Trump Disruption and India’s Foreign Policy’ by Dr. C Rajamohan, Foreign Policy Analyst and Director, Institute of South Asian studies NUS on  August 14, 2019. Staff and students from Jain University and NAIS were in attendance, as well. Dr. Rajamohan started the lecture by giving the example of Bangalore and its inter-connectivity with the world. The fact that policies in one part of the world have the capacity to directly impact a city in other part of the world, was brought out. This was placed in the context of dynamic American foreign policy, under the Trump Administration. Dr. Rajamohan divided his lecture under the four broad categories – to understand when and how the world changes, consequences of changes, effect on India and how can India cope up with this changing dynamics. INDO-KOREAN VA EXHIBITION 2019

The two-day event on 22 July 2019 and 23 July 2019 included a variety of programmes being organized, right from the exhibition to the cultural extravaganza programme being conducted. The programme had a successful kick start with an inauguration. It was conducted on 22 July 2019 at 9:00 AM at Island, Block 1. The emcee welcomed all the distinguished members present. INTERACTION WITH PROF. IDESBALD GODDEERIS (KU LEUVEN UNIVERSITY, BELGIUM)

The Department of International Studies and History organised faculty interaction with Prof . Idesbald Goddeeris (KU  Leuven University, Belgium) on 8 th August 2019. During the interaction, faculties discussed and deliberated about " Interculturalism in contemporary Europe” . During the interaction, various dimensions, historical backdrops, contemporary development, responses from developed and developing countries with regard to multi culturalism was analysed and discussed in details. Discussion were also made exploring the probability of a global class and online classes in the month of November 2019.

Guest Lecture on Patents and Incubation: Ideas for the Future

The Department of International Studies and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), organised a talk by Dr. Saji Verghese on the topic: ‘Patents and Incubation: Ideas for the Future’ on 1st August 2019. Dr. Saji is from the Department of English, CHRIST and has been heavily involved in ICLI - INITIATIVE IN CREATIVE LEARNING FOR IMPACT. The speaker intended to touch on 4 key areas:  What is ICLI and what do they do?  The rationale behind doing what they do Their philosophy and  Their vision.  In order to convey these, he narrated 5 stories of individuals, who made a big difference by innovating simple yet impactful ideas, that would help make life a little better. He presented these stories with a picture and a narration.  Some of these success stories were of the Whatsapp founder, the redBus founder, the success story of Srikanth Bolla and the story of a stanford student who was assigned to innovate low cost incubators for villages in Karnataka.  After having narrate
