Internship Experience-NIAS-Sanjali Mitra

National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore, is a centre of higher learning in India engaged in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities. National Institute of Advanced Studies is involved in four areas of activities such as research, analysis, publications and education. It acts as a platform for advanced research in the disciplines of sciences, arts, and humanities. The research findings are compiled and disseminated through printed literature, personal interactions, lectures and conferences. The centre works as a forum for the social and political leaders and academics to interact with each other for interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and information.

The academic activities of the institute are segmented to fall under four schools. Each school functions as a separate division and has a host of permanent teaching faculty and a set of visiting professors:
·         School of Conflict and Security Studies
·         School of Humanities
·         School of Social
·         School of Natural Sciences and Engineering
As a part of the school of Conflict and Security studies, we are placed under the academic guidance of Dr. Suba Chandran, Professor at the International Strategic & Security Studies, National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore. The internship has three parts:
·         The academic area where are given regular classes about global politics
·         Our engagement in conducting various events like seminars, workshops in the institution
·         The way in which we want to engage with NIAS in the future.
The classes at NIAS begin from 9 am and continue till 1pm. In the class we discuss the various factors which affect the contemporary world politics today and the recent trends and issues which are emerging.  We are fortunate to attend the lecture and seminars of some of the notable scholars, administrators, politicians and higher other officials of our country and abroad. Following that we are given assignments and a few presentations every day which we have to complete and present the following day. The internship including the course plan is very well planned which gives us a holistic orientation to the contemporary world issues and research techniques.  Dr. Suba is very understanding and tries to make us comfortable in the new scenario as far as possible and guides us at every step in which we falter.
The institute maintains a well stocked library and has accommodation facilities for guests and visitors. It provides a homely environment to the people who work there and they have a friendly attitude towards each other. The campus is a green, clean and no smoking campus. They have subsidized canteens for the employees who work there and zero emission autos and bicycles and other modes of environment friendly transport to explore the huge campus. Visiting a lush green campus every day, as a part of our internship, is a quick escape from the hustle and pollution of the Bangalore city; enabling us to accommodate with our hectic work schedule in a comfortable and calm manner.

The "South" took over the Citadel-- An Analysis of the rising South Indian Film Industry | Student Works

The South Indian film industry has been in a vehement uproar over the last five to six years. The trend and the taste of the audience have turned the tables of focus towards South Indian movie industry, only further solidified by the Golden Globes’ win bagged by RRR’s music director MM Keeravani, as well as their Oscars’ nomination for Best Foreign Film. Sequels and prequels about 'smugglers' (Rockybhai and Pushpa) have taken over the game into what we cinematically call the "next level." Since R. Rajamouli and his vision of filmmaking which he calls 'larger than life’ films, fictitious characterizations are placed over and above gravity. His exuberance has paid off well at the box office, and his filmography proves the same. Emotional undertones in diverse stories like Eega aimed for the viewers' hearts straight in the bull's eye. Baahubali, RRR , and Pushpa broke the box office records, and the otherwise stereotypical advantages of Bollywood put the
