In - House Lecture on 22 July conducted by Department of International Studies and History

The Department of International Studies and History held its first in – house lecture on 22 nd July for the both year International Studies Students and the Law Students at Room number 911 The event was presided by Dr. Venugopal Menon, HoD, Department of International Studies and History and the Panelists for the day – Prof. Alexander Samuel, Prof. George Jose, Prof.  Joshy. M . Paul, Prof. Madhumati Deshpande and Prof. Gitika Kapoor The discussion centred around the dispute between Philippines and China over the South China Sea. The topic was covered by the panelists from the perspectives of International Law, History of the region, Environmental Impact, Political Impact and from the perspective of the impact of the dispute on India’s trade. After an hour long discussion on the various issues engulfing the dispute, there followed a question and answer session bringing the programme to a fruitful conclusion with a vote of thanks by Saagar Kote, Student Council ...

Inauguration of the PG Association - Lyceum

  The inaugural ceremony of Lyceum, the first Postgraduate Association was held on 2 nd July. The function was presided over by Dr. Venugopal, HOD, Department of International Studies and History, Fr. Jose CC and the chief guest for the day Dr. Lal CA, English Professor, University of Kerala and the representative of Whole Earth Project. The function commenced with an invocation song by the second years followed by a welcome address by Dr. Vagishwari. Niyati from 1MAIS briefed the audience regarding the first PG association for the political science students – Lyceum Pearl from 2 nd year gave an insight about the objectives of the association. The objectives aimed at all r ound development of the students from not only the International Department, but across the University through MUN, debates and through university activities. Beyond the borders Volume 3 Issue 3 - January to March 2016

As the world moves into the New Year 2016, a greater challenge lies ahead  and even more greater threats that may be a hindrance to the existence of World Peace and World Order. In the third issue of the newsletter we take you through the dispute over the South China Sea and the challenge to World Trade posed by the dominance of China.  The issue of Fishermen between India and Sri Lanka is the next highlight of this edition. Will Terrorism have an adverse impact on the role of UN as a peace promoter?  and the interpretations of liberalism in India are some of the highlights of this edition.  Happy reading!
