INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS QUIZ


LYCEUM, the Post-Graduate Association for the department of International Studies and History, wishes to organize an inter-departmental International Affairs Quiz in 27th July, 2018.

Objectives of the fest:

1)      To increase awareness about the department of International Studies and History in general and Masters in International Studies in particular thereby, making our presence felt on campus.
2)      To create space for inter-disciplinary interaction, learning and intellectual exchanges. 
3)      To encourage an environment of greater questioning, analysis and discussion.

Inauguration of the Quiz
Date: 27th July, 2017
Venue: Sky View  
Time: 10 AM- 01 PM

The inauguration will begin with a short prayer and the lighting of the lamp.The Chief Guest shall give the inaugural address and declare the quiz. Keeping in mind the aforementioned objectives, the following events have been discussed and decided upon.

International Affairs Quiz
Date: 27th July, 2018
Venue: Sky View 
Time: 10AM – 01 PM

The participants (Open to all 2nd and 3rd year students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University)) will have to enroll in teams of 2. The Quiz will have questions covering various aspects of International Affairs:

  1. Foreign Policies of India, US, Russia and China.
  2. Current news and events of international politics
  3. General knowledge on countries and their governments.

First round will be a written round. Top 8 teams which qualifies will move to the second round, which will again be a written round. Finally, the top 4 teams which qualifies this round will move to the final round. If a team gives a wrong answer/ chooses to pass the question, the question gets passed to the next team.

The quiz will have 3 rounds:

Round 1: Elimination Round (Top 8 teams move to Round 2)
Round 2: Semi Final Round (Top 4 Teams move to Round 3)
Round 3: Final Round
  • 1st Prize for the Best Team
  • 2nd Price for the Runner up Team

Guidelines for Quiz:

1.      Teams of 2 shall have to enroll for the quiz.

2.      The questions will be based on various aspects of International Affairs such as Foreign Policies, Current Affairs and General Knowledge.

3.      The Quiz will have 3 Rounds:

Round 1 will be the Elimination Round, wherein top 8 teams will move to the second Round. Round 2 will be the Semi Final Round. The top 4 teams will then move to Round 3, that is, the Final Round.

4.      Each team will be asked direct questions, failing to answer which the question will be passed on to the next team. There will also be Buzzer questions, which cannot be passed.

5.      Points for scoring Direct question: 10 points

      Points for scoring a Pass Question: 5 Points

      Points for scoring a Buzzer question: 2 Points

The Department of International Studies, Political Science and History organised a webinar on Populism titled ‘The Multifaceted Nature of Populism’ by Ajay Gudavarthy. Ajay Gudavarthy is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Political Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has been a visiting fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Charles Wallace Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. MoU with ASHOKA University – Harvard Yenching Institute

                                  With immense pleasure and happiness, we would like to inform you that the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed To Be University) has signed a MoU with Ashoka University – Harvard Yenching Institute. This MoU is to build academic and research resources on China Studies and related areas as a thriving discipline. It will also enable the department to create new knowledge in India about different countries, particularly on China. The MoU will help the department to provide promising scholars studying China with the opportunity to share their work and knowledge with a wider audience through Lectures, Courses, and Publications and enhance research opportunities for young post-doctoral scholars.
