A TOAST TO OUR GURUS

Date: 5 September 2018 Venue: Block II, Panel Room Time: 3-4 P.M. Teachers’ Day, a day to commemorate the mentors who have bestowed knowledge, in its purest sense upon us, was celebrated with sheer frolic by the Department of International Studies and History. The afternoon saw a series of convivial events and anecdotes by the students as well as the teachers. After welcoming the teachers from the Department of International Studies and History and the Department of Law via tokens of appreciation offered by the students of 1 and 3 MAIS, the students were addressed by Father Jose C.C, Dr. Madhumati Deshpande , Dr. Vagishwari and Dr. Joshy Paul. They shared their own experiences and the essence of this day in their lives. This was followed by a sublime dance performance by the students of 1MAIS, which captivated the audience, especially the teachers who hooted for a “once more”! To deal with risks...

India Bound, a risk management initiative of  Poised Advisory Ltd  held a workshop  in collaboration with The Department of international Studies and History, Christ ( Deemed to Be University) on Sept 5th . The workshop was a three hours interactive session headed by Mr. Arpit Rajain, Vice-President of India Bound. The guests introduced various concept of risk management .A interactive video session with the head of the Legal Department of India Bound made the program vibrant as students were encouraged to share their opinions on various subjects relating to today's society. The program came to an end with a group activity that made the session entertaining and informative at the same time.

Talk on “Indo-Japan Relations.”

Date: 3 September 2018 Venue: Skyview Department of International Studies and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) organised a talk by Prof. Takako Inoue, Dalto Bunka University, Japan on the topic “Indo-Japan Relations.” Prof. Takako addressed the audience focusing on the cultural relations between India and Japan in terms of Buddhism and Allied Performing Arts. Being a prudent observer of Indian cultural traditions, the speaker linked many major art forms and festivals of Japan, like Gagaku and Daibuttu-Kaigen-Houyou, to that of the Indian ones. The evolution of Buddhism with reference to the encounter of Indian culture in Japan was discussed as well. Dr. Joshy Paul, Faculty, Department of International studies and history gave the welcome address during the event.

Panel Discussion on “The Future of India- Pakistan Relations”

Venue: Xavier Hall, SJC PG Centre, St Joseph’s College Date: 27 August 2018 Department of International Studies and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with NIAS, BU and St Joseph’s conducted a panel discussion on “The Future of India- Pakistan Relations.” The discussion was based on the book “Strategy Trap” authored by Lt Gen (retd) Dr. Prakash Menon. The panellists Prof D. Suba Chandran, Prof. BM Chengappa and Lt Gen Dr. Prakash Menon gave significant inputs to the discussion. Prakash Menon initiated the discussion sharing his views on whether India- Pak relation will move forward under Imran Khan. “The Strategy Trap: Exploring the Nuclear Dimension in the bilateral relation” was the topic discussed by Chengappa who in turn gave a review on the book as well.
