organised a talk by Prof. Takako Inoue, Dalto Bunka University, Japan on the
topic “Indo-Japan Relations.”
Prof.
Takako addressed the audience focusing on the cultural relations between India
and Japan in terms of Buddhism and Allied Performing Arts. Being a prudent
observer of Indian cultural traditions, the speaker linked many major art forms
and festivals of Japan, like Gagaku and Daibuttu-Kaigen-Houyou, to that of the
Indian ones. The evolution of Buddhism with reference to the encounter of
Indian culture in Japan was discussed as well.
Dr.
Joshy Paul, Faculty, Department of International studies and history gave the welcome
address during the event.
