ALUMNI MEET 2020- A PLETHORA OF MEMORIES

The Department of International Studies and History organized an Alumni Meet 2020. As the date coincided with the 71st Republic Day, the theme for the event was honouring students serving the Indian Armed Forces for which a programme was held in the Main Audi from 11-1:30 pm followed by lunch. The Department then held a get-together with their former Alumni who bore the Christite spirit and the vision- Excellence and Service.  Fr Jose CC, Dr Vagishwari SP, Dr Madhumati Deshpande, Dr Anurag Tripathi, Dr Koiremba Singh, Dr Vineeth Thomas, Dr Stefy Joseph and Dr Barnali Chanda were present to rebuild and enhance their relations with their students.
Students from 1993, 2002, 2004, post 2014 batches were present and were eager and were pleased to meet their professors who served as the torchbearer whose guiding light has made them define their purpose and build an image for themselves and hence able to carve a niche for themselves. The welcome address was given by Dr Vagishwari SP who was glad to meet her children and welcomed each one of them whole heartedly. The keynote address was provided by Fr Jose CC who spoke about the Latin word alma mater who represents the ideal of nurturing mother thus signifying the role of an educational institution is beyond education and stands to imbibe values in its students and combat them to face the challenges of tomorrow by unleashing their hidden potentials. To entertain the Alumni, a dance and singing performance was presented by the present MAIS students which made them rejoice it to the fullest. Post which with the lead of Dr Madhumati Deshpande and Dr Anurag Tripathi, the alumni were requested to share their fond memories, experiences and learnings from Christ which has shaped and moulded them in their respective careers. The alumni shared their views and how they are currently working in corporates, teaching field, preparing for UPSC, aiming for Master’s, doing MPhil/PhD. Thus, the students have made valuable reminiscences, recollections and memories which would be cherished.
As rightly put by Kaarthik Mohanraj- “They called it an Alumni Reunion, we knew it was HOMECOMING!” Thus, these Alumni represented the best fruits of Christ’s education and have made valuable yet vital contributions in their fields of endeavour, they have served their communities and their alma mater with their volunteer efforts, and they act as role models for the students to follow. The alumni were presented with a token of appreciation by Team Kayal- Art Club comprising of Undergraduate students which was followed by Dr Madhumati Deshpande who proposed the vote of thanks. The alumni were presented with snacks. Thus, it was indeed a successfully family reunion day.

The "South" took over the Citadel-- An Analysis of the rising South Indian Film Industry | Student Works

The South Indian film industry has been in a vehement uproar over the last five to six years. The trend and the taste of the audience have turned the tables of focus towards South Indian movie industry, only further solidified by the Golden Globes’ win bagged by RRR’s music director MM Keeravani, as well as their Oscars’ nomination for Best Foreign Film. Sequels and prequels about 'smugglers' (Rockybhai and Pushpa) have taken over the game into what we cinematically call the "next level." Since R. Rajamouli and his vision of filmmaking which he calls 'larger than life’ films, fictitious characterizations are placed over and above gravity. His exuberance has paid off well at the box office, and his filmography proves the same. Emotional undertones in diverse stories like Eega aimed for the viewers' hearts straight in the bull's eye.
