IR MUN 2020 COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION FOR GLOBAL FUTURE

IR MUN 2020, hosted by the students of the INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND HISTORY department of CHRIST(Deemed To Be University), aims to gain a global perspective on pressing issues and will be marked as unique when theory meets reality.
The objective of the Model United Nations is to seek, through discussion and debate, solutions to the various problems of the world. The International Relations Model United Nations is a two-day national level event that will be held at the Central Campus of CHRIST (Deemed to be University). IRMUN is a debating platform which will be following the guidelines of the United Nations. The Model United Nations offers students an excellent opportunity to expand, develop and put into practice their lobbying, negotiating and debating skills. At this conference, young leaders are encouraged to come up with solutions for disparate problems affecting countries across the globe. This is a platform where students from across the nation and the world can hone and test their skills of diplomacy, problem-solving, debating, researching, public speaking, writing and team building as well as gain the ability to dissect and analyze seemingly complex concepts, to acknowledge and understand the multifaceted nature of problems, and most importantly, to actively listen to friends and foes alike.

IR MUN 2020 aims at nurturing young minds for cooperation and coordination as the key essentials for the creation of a peaceful global future. The IRMUN focuses on five such relevant and important committees of Model United Nations which include:
·         UNSC
·         CCC
·         UNGA DISEC
·         HRC
·         AIPPM

                                                              GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly is the only structure of the United Nations that represents all members. Its fundamental responsibilities involve discussing global issues and suggesting propositions even though it’s not given the authority to administer its resolutions or to enforce state actions. Established as one of the primary six committees of the UN General Assembly, DISEC remains as one of the indispensable organs of the United Nations. The committee is empowered to form principles that govern and draft recommendatory resolutions to its members, the Security Council, or both with regard to the following matters:

1. International Peace and Security
2. Disarmament and regulation of armaments
3. Conflicts and means of prevention

The committee has been critical in providing recommendations on regulating potentially harmful technologies such as nuclear, biological, and chemical weaponry.

AGENDA:  DISCUSSING THE POLITICAL SITUATION IN YEMEN WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE FOREIGN INFLUENCE IN THE REGION.

                                                              SECURITY COUNCIL

The council consist of 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent members. The presidency of the assembly is held by each member in rotation for a period of one month. It calls upon the parties of a dispute to settle it by feasible means and provides the terms of a settlement with the formation of an abiding resolution. Unlike other organs of the United Nations, the Security Council can resort to breaking off diplomatic ties, imposing sanctions and authorizing the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security.

AGENDA: THE USE OF LETHAL AUTONOMOUS WEAPONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST.

                                       CONTINUOUS CRISIS COMMITTEE

One of the most thrilling committees of a Model United Nations conference is the Continuous Crisis Committee which leaves all delegates with an adrenaline rush. The most integral part of this committee is to test the ability of the delegate to defend the policy and stands of their country in that particular crisis. The committee expects the delegate to constantly update themselves with the changing conditions and updated crisis. The use of directives make the committee even more unpredictable, and expects the delegate to respond by protecting their sovereignty.
AGENDA:  PRESENTING THE GLOBAL CRISI AT CCC

                                                        HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

The Human Rights Council is a committee of 47 states and is responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. This committee discusses all the human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout that particular year. This committee has turned out to be one of the most relevant committees in recent years.
