The Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) in association with GIRES (Global Institute for Research Education and Scholarship) will be conducting an online seminar on ‘Ethnic Pluralism in Europe in 21st Century’ as part of its Continental Catch Webinar series. The speaker of the event will be Prof. Konstantinos Karatzas, founder and director, GIRES. TALK de BAIT

Lyceum, the Postgraduate Students’ Association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History successfully conducted TALK de BAIT, a turncoat debate competition for the students of MAIS on 23rd January 2021. In a turncoat debate, the participants are required to speak both in favour of the topic as well as against it. Ten students took part in the first round of the debate. The topic for the first round was ‘Privatisation of Vaccine: Boon or Bane.' The top four participants from the first round moved on to next round, and the topic of the debate was ‘Can the pandemic revive international cooperation?’ In the second round, the participants had five minutes to prepare their arguments. The top two participants: Tanishka from 4 MAIS and Aman from 2 MAIS moved on to the final round. UNravel 2021

Lyceum, the postgraduate students’ association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed to University) successfully conducted UNravel, an online quiz competition to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations. The event was held on 11th January from 2 to 4 pm. The competition consisted of three rounds. The preliminary round witnessed participation from 30 teams of two students. The top six teams then moved on to the second round which was conducted on the Webex platform. The competition had a unique catch—the teams were given the names of cities. The teams that took part in the second round were Team Berlin, Tokyo, Helsinki, Stockholm, Nairobi and Rio. The participants were required to keep their cameras switched on in order to maintain the integrity of the quiz competition. NIAS, The National Institute of Advanced Studies, conducted the seminar, Global Issues to watch in 2021, as part of its online lecture series. The Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was a part of this event along with various other institutions such as the Goa University, Pondicherry University and Kristu Jayanti College. The guest speaker of the session was Prof. C Raja Mohan. Prof. Suba Chandran, Dean, School of Conflict and Security Studies delivered the introductory remarks. The welcome address was given by Dr Shailesh Nayak, Director, NIAS. This was followed by a deeply insightful talk by the speaker himself. Online Debate Competition—TALK de BAIT

Lyceum, the postgraduate students’ association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History is excited to announce that it will be conducting an online debate competition—TALK de BAIT. This debate is exclusively for the students of two and four MAIS. It is a turncoat debate competition where the students will have to be prepared for both sides of the argument. The online debate competition will be held on Saturday, 23rd January, 2021 from 12 to 1 pm. The topic for the debate competition will be given to the participants upon completing the registration process. The last date of registration is 20th January, 2021.
