Continental Catch Webinar Series

The Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) in association with GIRES (Global Institute for Research Education and Scholarship) will be conducting an online seminar on ‘Ethnic Pluralism in Europe in 21st Century’ as part of its Continental Catch Webinar series. The speaker of the event will be Prof. Konstantinos Karatzas, founder and director, GIRES. Prof Karatzas specializes in twentieth-century international political history and global political history of the 20th century with a special interest in political culture, national identities, collective memory and racial violence. The event will be held on 29th January 2021 from 4:00 p.m. Europe has been at the core of International Relations since the Peace of Westphalia. With the onset of the Pandemic and right-wing idealogues coming into the mainstream, European politics is again at the centre stage of global politics. The talk on the above-mentioned topic will shed light on the Ethnic Pluralism in Europe in the 21st century. Note: The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. IST sharp.

Ajay Gudavarthy is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Political Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has been a visiting fellow at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Charles Wallace Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. His most recent book is India After Modi: Populism and the Right (2018).
