The International Affairs Quiz 2021

The International Affairs Quiz 2021 was organized by Lyceum, the Postgraduate Students’ Association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science, and History, at Christ Deemed to be University, on 12 November 2021. Being the first event to be conducted in the hybrid mode, the majority of the students attended the event at Room No. 911 of the Central Block, in the Central Campus, between 3pm and 4pm, while the others attended online. There was a commendable audience turnout and a good degree of participation from the students of Master of Arts in International Studies.

The event was declared open by Dr. Madhumati Deshpande, the academic coordinator and the Head of the Department. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Miss. Hanspreet Kaur of 3MAIS, who explained in detail that the competition would have two rounds. The first round entailed a written assessment, with the participants being shown ten questions through a PowerPoint presentation and asked to write the answers down in paper. Once the participants had been given enough time to answer all the ten questions, the papers were collected by volunteers of Lyceum and evaluated. The students participating online were required to scan and send their answer scripts to Miss. Dincy Adlakha for evaluation. It was announced that the first round would not incorporate the scheme of negative marking in the case of wrong answers.

After the first round of evaluation, five finalists were chosen from among the participants. Three of the students were on-campus participants, and the other two were online. The second round presented each individual with three questions carrying 10 points, which they were expected to answer through a mic. The participants were given 20 seconds to attempt to answer each question. If a question was passed without an attempt at answering, the next participant was awarded 5 points for the right answer. In case of a wrong answer, a deduction of points was declared.

Following a heated round of interesting questions from the sphere of Global Affairs, Mr. Rishabh Rajgarhia, a member of Inclusive Ingenuity, was declared the winner of the event. The second position was shared by Miss. Shakshi of Inclusive Ingenuity and Mr. Vinayak S R of Inclusive Ingenuity. Mr. Jairam R Prabhu from House of Strange bagged the third position. A photograph of the winners was taken by the Media Team of Lyceum. The Vote of Thanks was rendered by Mr. Siddharth Tiwari of 3MAIS, one of the organizers of the event, concluding the event, and allowing the audience to disperse.
