Inauguration of LYCEUM

The Inauguration of LYCEUM, the Post Graduate students' association of the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, for the year 2022-23 was held on 2nd September 2022. The event started with the emcees of the day-- Kuljot Kaur Dua of 3MAIS and Rhea Rose Abraham of 1MAIS-- welcoming the gathering and introducing the event to the audience.

The formal function started with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Fr. Jose CC, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Christ Deemed to be University, Dr. Vagishwari SP, and Lyceum Coordinator Dr. Stefy V Joseph. The invocation song during the ceremony was recited by Saumya Abraham of 3MAIS and Rhea Rose Abraham of 1MAIS.  Dr. Vagishwari SP then welcomed the gathering and talked about the importance of an association like LYCEUM and what the platform has to offer to the students.

The address was followed by an invocation dance by students of 3MAIS who presented a cultural extravaganza on the stage. The media team of the LYCEUM prepared a video recap of the activities of the year 2021-22 for the audience, including the various events and discussions conducted throughout the previous year, even through the pandemic.

Dr. Stefy V Joseph, the LYCEUM Faculty Coordinator, showcased the energetic, enthusiastic, and elegant LYCEUM team for the year 2022-2023, thus raising hopes for a year filled with activities and opportunities for juniors and seniors alike to create and experience. Dr. Madhumati Deshpande, Coordinator Department of International Studies, Political Science & History, spoke about the LYCEUM organization and the immense talent and potential the group has. The address was followed by an energetic duet song performance by Nandu Krishnan and Roshan Thomas of 3MAIS. 

Dr. Fr. Jose CC, the Pro-Vice Chancellor gave an in-depth presentation as part of the Inaugural address of the day, on the achievements of students and faculty at the university and how the university provides endless opportunities for students to excel and provide the best service to society. The inaugural address was followed by a group song performance by the students of 1MAIS, which was refreshing and soothing to listen to. 

The most exciting performance of the day was showcased by the students of 3MAIS with a skit that was pre-recorded and presented as a short video documentary titled 'A Day in Life of 3MAIS'. The skit was filled with instances of day-to-day activities of the class as well as humorous scenes, entertaining the audience. 

The last program of the day was an entertaining and eye-catching dance performance by the students of 1MAIS that left the audience with a round of applause. The Vote of Thanks for the Inauguration Day was presented by Lyceum head Hannah Khan of 3 MAIS who ended an hour of entertainment cum talent display.

MoU with ASHOKA University – Harvard Yenching Institute

                                  With immense pleasure and happiness, we would like to inform you that the Department of International Studies, Political Science and History, CHRIST (Deemed To Be University) has signed a MoU with Ashoka University – Harvard Yenching Institute. This MoU is to build academic and research resources on China Studies and related areas as a thriving discipline. It will also enable the department to create new knowledge in India about different countries, particularly on China. The MoU will help the department to provide promising scholars studying China with the opportunity to share their work and knowledge with a wider audience through Lectures, Courses, and Publications and enhance research opportunities for young post-doctoral scholars. As per the provisions of the MoU, CHRIST will enrol and host postdoctoral fellow(s) selected through China Studies Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in collaboration with Ashoka.
